first define an attendance status that should indicate an on time status late submissions can use the same status if you do not wish to differnetiate between them, otherwise a seperate late status can be defined if a late submission should not be awarded any value, simply setup an attendance status for it that has a value of 0 admin > attendance > statuses admin > plugins > plugin settings expand the canvas lti integration settings section
